Teeth!!

For dental health month (yes, yes, I know that was in February) I made sure to take a week and focus on tooth health. I received a free teachers kit from Colgate that had a big book with matching books for the kids, a cd of teeth songs, and a toothbrush and toothpaste for the students (this little packet also included coupons, a definite plus in my book). All week we read books about teeth some were non-fiction, some were just for fun. On Friday we culminated the week by making mouths out of apples and using peanut butter to hold in marshmallow teeth. To cut the apples we used my handy dandy Pampered Chef apple slicer. This is great for fine motor as the kids have to line and up and push down. Just watch out for those little fingers! The students then used  a plastic knife (you can also use a Popsicle sticks) to spread some peanut butter on two apple slices. Next they added some marshmallow teeth to one slice and then put the other slice on top. They seemed to enjoy this although it was a bit messy, but doesn't that always make it more fun!

Hmm, for some reason Blogger keeps rotating my pictures.  Not sure why, but hopefully you get the idea!

  2. love the marshmallow teeth. Thanks so much for stopping by our blog. How about the little spray bottles instead of squirt guns? The kids could even decorate theirs with stickers first.
Great blog, I am enjoying reading.
