Frugal Friday: Ebates

Whenever I am going to shop online I always go to Ebates first to see if the store is on there. Ebates is a site where you can earn rebates on items you buy online just by clicking through the Ebates site. I have found if I have a gift card for a store (this has worked with Target & Kohls), if I use it I will still get a rebate. Also, if a store has in-store pickup and we are buying something that is a lot of $$$, we will go through Ebates so that we can get some money off. Here are the basic steps to get you started. Once you are logged in you will come to a screen that looks like this.

Next you will need to type in the store you are looking for in the search box.

As you type stores that match those letters will start to pop up. You will also see the percentage of the rebate you can earn by shopping there. 

Click on the store you want and you will come to a screen for that store. Click on the Shop Now button to go to the store website.  It will open up on another tab.

Make sure you scroll down on the Ebates store page as sometimes there are special coupon codes.

After you click on the Shop Now button and the new tab opens you will see this screen.  It will quickly go away and you will be at your stores website.  Now shop like you normally do.  In a few days you will see your rebates starting to add up.

A few extra notes on Ebates:

• You will get a check once you earn $15 in rebates.  You can set it up to go straight to Paypal.  Checks are sent every 3 months. 
• You can still use coupon codes on the actual store website such as ones that you may find on Coupon Cabin  or RetailmeNot.
• If you can not find the store on Ebates, you can also try Shopathome.  I have only used this one a few times, as I prefer Ebates.
